Iran ‘Bomb’ grabs score nom

Internationally celebrated Iran actor/director Peyman Moaadi’s ‘Bomb: A Love Story’ gains a nom for Best Original Score at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia.

Claiming to be “the region’s highest accolade in film,” the APSA unveiled the first nominees for the 12th edition, announcing the nominees for the inaugural Best Original Score Award.

Iranian film ‘Bomb: A Love Story’ was announced among the nominees for the award alongside titles from Greece, the UK, Australia and the Philippines.

Famed Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto chairing the inaugural 2018 APSA Music in Film International Jury said, ‘As a musician and film composer, I strongly support APSA’s Best Original Film Score Award to highlight the importance of music in film and to bring recognition to the collaborative effort between filmmakers and composers.”

He also said, “I congratulate all of the nominees on their exceptional work and look forward to working with my fellow jurors to determine the inaugural winner of this new Asia Pacific Screen Award.”

The film depicts romance in the war stricken Iran in the late 80s.

It is about Tehran, the Iranian capital, under bomb attacks with terror prevails in the city.

It shows how love and emotions, life and hope wash away the horrific image of the war.

Leila Hatami is among the cast members of the flick.

Greek musician Eléni Karaïndrou who made the film score for ‘Bomb, A Love Story’ was nominated for the award.

Peyman Moaadi, the director, is internationally appreciated for his appearance in Oscar-winning flick ‘A Separation’ by Asghar Farhadi.
